If you are like most of us who have gone through a horrible and heart breaking break up then chances are I don’t need to tell you about the emotional and physical toll it can take.
If you feel as if your world is crumbling down around you then I feel your pain. I don’t want to tell you what everyone else has told you about trying to get on with your life, this DOES NOT take away the pain you are going through. I want to help you avoid and prevent making things worse by letting you know that you can’t give up on yourself!
The emotional pain and toll can be more than most of us can take after a break up. Many of us will want to dig a whole and crawl into it or pray for the ground to open up and swallow us whole. While these feelings are normal you need to do your best to try and get on with your life, in fact, it is imperative that you try to begin new things right now. Check out our video about critical do’s and dont’s.
Sitting by the phone waiting for your ex to return your calls or begging for him or her to come back will not make you feel better. You need to try and avoid getting into a vicious cycle that can be very difficult to break. This is why many of us will behave irrationally or act out of character after a break up, we simply have no “grounding point” to centre ourselves around.
There are many things you can do to get your mind off your ex. One of the best things you can do is spend time with family and friends. This might be common sense advice but it is shocking how many people avoiding doing this because their pain is too great. I can’t begin to tell you how helpful loving friends and family members can be to remind you that there are people in your life that will always love you.
Meditation is another practice that you should try that can transform your life both mentally and physically. It will help you resolve and come to terms with the break up and see it with a better and clear mindset. I can’t begin to tell you how many lives have been transformed with this amazing ancient practice.
Start becoming more physically active. You don’t have to run out and join a gym but try and start going for brisk walks or runs. Exercising will help release amazing feel good chemicals in you body called Endorphins.
It is so important that you take care of yourself if you want to reunite with your ex. The last thing you want to do is let yourself go making it more difficult to reunite, especially if things spiral out of your control. I know it might be easier said than done but it is time to start saying “yes” to doing fun things no matter how much your head is telling you no.
